What & How's

what do I treat
what is chinese medicine

Chinese medicine is a complete medical system practiced for over 2,000 years. It includes acupuncture, herbal formulas, nutrition, movement practices (like Tai Chi), and bodywork (Tuina).

Throughout history, practitioners have documented treatments, outcomes, and theories. Today, Chinese medicine continues to evolve — combining ancient wisdom with modern, evidence-based approaches.

At my clinic, I use:

  • Gentle acupuncture in non-intimate areas

  • Personalized herbal formulas

  • Lifestyle guidance (diet, movement, breathing techniques)

Each treatment is designed to meet your specific condition and stage in the healing process.

My clinic focuses exclusively on women’s health, with a special focus on vulvar and vaginal complaints.

If you're not sure whether I can help, you're welcome to reach out with questions — I will let you know if Chinese medicine is appropriate for your condition.

First Visit (90 minutes)

We begin with an in-depth intake. I ask detailed questions about the reason you reached out and how it's affecting your life. We will also talk about your full health history, cycle, digestion, sleep, emotional state, and more — all important for a Chinese medicine diagnosis.

Then, you will lie down on the treatment bed. I’ll check your pulse and observe your tongue — two key diagnostic tools. Based on this complete picture, I’ll choose an individualized acupuncture point combination for your treatment.

You’ll receive your first acupuncture session during this visit.

Acupuncture at My Clinic:

It is the insertion of very thin disposable needles through your skin at the selected acupuncture points.

We still don't know exactly how it works, but reviews of over 13,000 studies that have been conducted in the past 20 years prove that Chinese acupuncture is effective and not by the placebo effect (see here).

I use distal acupuncture techniques — selecting points far from the area of concern. That means:

  • Points are often located on the arms, lower legs, belly, or head

  • In some cases, points on the thighs may be considered — but only after trying less intimate options and confirming your comfort

  • I never use invasive or intimate-area acupuncture points (More about this in my blog:"The Yellow Emperor's New Clothes")

All needles are single-use and extremely thin.

Follow-ups (60-70 minutes):

Each session begins with a short check-in to see how things are progressing. I’ll ask fewer questions than in the first session, and adjust the acupuncture points as needed.

Treatment Frequency and Duration:

Chronic conditions usually require consistent treatment. Each case is unique, but some general guidelines are:

  • Weekly acupuncture sessions for the first 8–12 weeks are often needed

  • If progress is good, we can begin reducing the frequency

  • In some chronic pain cases, continuing weekly sessions for a few months is recommended, even if symptoms have already improved

  • 2 sessions per week often accelerates recovery

  • If after 3–4 sessions we don’t see satisfying progress, I may recommend adding a personalized herbal formula.

Herbal Formulas:

  • Herbal prescriptions are tailored to your diagnosis and included in the treatment plan

  • Herbs are not included in the treatment price — you’ll pay the pharmacy directly

  • Cost depends on the herbs used and dose: approx. €15–€30/week

online session

Online sessions

Online session:

I began offering online consultations during the lockdowns — and was surprised by the strong results using only herbal and lifestyle treatments. Since then, I’ve supported women from around the world this way.

Initial Consultation (90 minutes):

We meet via a secure video link (no downloads required). I ask detailed questions, as in the clinic, and if time allows, offer:

  • Nutrition and lifestyle recommendations

  • Breathing exercises, and more

If needed, I follow up by email with full instructions.

I’ll also request a photo of your tongue to help confirm the diagnosis.

Then, I carefully select the herbs and send your prescription to the pharmacy.

Online follow-ups (every 3 weeks):

Each follow-up lasts up to 60 minutes to:

  • Check your progress

  • Adjust your prescription if needed

  • Renew your herbal formula

Note: Appointments are required for every new herbal prescription — I do not offer diagnoses or prescriptions by email alone.

Herbal Cost:

  • Not included in the consultation price

  • Paid directly to the pharmacy

  • May vary between €15–€30/week, depending on the formula

Important:

  • Continuity is key — patients are responsible for scheduling follow-ups on time

  • This ensures no long breaks between herbal prescriptions
